On The French Bakers Rack

A vintage French wrought iron bakers rack

Found at an estate sale a couple of years ago
Finally has a place to call its own
in the dining room

I spent many hours over the summer
cleaning and painting and polishing
{those brass decorative pieces were black with tarnish}

This piece of history is at least a hundred years old
and for many decades was in a Paris bakery.

I have a few more boxes to unpack and clear out of the dining room,
and pictures to hang, then will take some photos.
It has a warm 'old world' feel that is so cozy.

The Fitz and Floyd soup tureen and dishes
were from another estate sale,
bought on 'half price' day.

Much of the decor in our home was found at estate sales,
flea market shops, antique and discount stores.
-
How I enjoy the hunt for that perfect home accessory,
without spending a boatload of money!
{because that ship has not come in}
-
-
I'd enjoy hearing about some flea market  treasures you've found
~ to create a look you love in your home ~

  2. I AM FINALLY HERE and this piece is truly LA PIÈCE DE RÉSISTANCE! Oh dear, we must discuss this further my dear....this came out so beautiful and what an eye you have for beauty. I can see this in a Paris boulangerie, oh yeah, easily, given that I frequented them DAILY while in France! I LOVE the brass pieces. They add just that perfect amount of décoration to the piece. This is stunning. There is one shot that I would particularly be interested in using on my sidebar with a link to your blog....may I?

    I will come via email. This is MAGNIFIQUE! BISOUS, Anita

  12. That is stunning!
    I apologize for not responding to your query about painting iron. I was digging in the garden!
    I have successfully used basic spray paint for metal, then I hand finish with waxes. I think I am way too late for this advice!

    Take Care,

    Andie
