Chalkboard Love and Tromp L'oeil

I made a chalkboard for our entry way
from a vintage table-top
picked up at a yard sale a couple of years ago.
I had previously painted it in Paris Grey Chalk Paint
to make a tray.  This is more fun!

I also painted the mirror frame
and the frame around my painting grey

Below is the item I mentioned in my previous post,
my fabulous Craigslist find.
~ I've been wanting a fireplace in my studio ~
This new mantle was removed from a home being built,
as it was supposed to have been stained, not painted.
The paint color is almost identical to our trim color!

As you can see in the photo below,
there is actually only a few inches of depth,
and no real fireplace inside...
I laid the "marble tile" around the firebox,
which is stick-on vinyl flooring squares cut in fourths.

My husband cut two 40"x48" 1/4" plywood boards for me which
attach to the fireplace surround with magnets.
On one I painted this 'tromp l'oeil' box
(which I will add to, not sure what yet)
and the other I painted with chalkboard paint
and can switch them out when I want to sketch a fire.

These are really bad photos of my dogs, but
you can see the wall behind the fireplace surround
before the actual fireplace appeared.
