Summers Shadows

Her Shadow
~ and dreams of growing big ~

{I made the sun dress}

Light and Shadow
to have no shadows in our lives would also mean no light shining on our path

Our shadows can loom larger than life

But remember, they are just a shadow of the
real and true

~ and sometimes there are sparkles in the shadows ~

this last photo is of my breakfast:

vanilla greek yogurt
cocoa powder
crunchy granola cereal
almonds
frozen crushed blueberries
frozen raisins
{thank you Anita for the delicious idea!}

in a pink glass inherited from my husbands mother

TODAY
may you see through the shadows in your life
to the real and true
as the light
s h i n e s
upon
you

~ Violet ~

I love these Bible verses that speak of shadows

the people living in darkness have seen a great light;
on those living in the land of the shadow of death
a light has dawned
Matthew 4:16

 These are a shadow of the things that were to come;
the reality, however, is found in Christ
Colossians 2:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above,
coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights,
who does not change like shifting shadows
James 1:7

  1. I love how language and metaphors, parables, similes and storytelling in general has been handed down to us in forms of faith, poetry, history of any kind. All good things are from above, and the light which casts shadows is what gives us the power to carry on. AND YOUR BREAKFAST! Hard to resist, isn't it my friend! I have it every morning and this morning I made it with frozen cherries! WOWOWOOW!

    Lovely images, and yes, sometimes those shadows are BIGGER than the reality!!! LOVE - SO MUCH LOVE to you, Anita

  4. Precious sister of light! Thank you for visiting my poem, and to put into words what one observes and feels is an art worthy of studying a lifetime. Thank you for your support and friendship for which there are no words.

  5. This is a beautiful post Violet! Shadows always inspre me, like dancing sun specs do - they show things in a new light - and as painters we know, that some darkness is needed to make the light shine! Love your pictures zoo - and your breakfast ,,,, Happy weekend!
