Downton Abbey and a painting in progress

Downton Abbey Inspired
"Lady Mary"
This is the first time I've done a painting in black and white

below, the stages of the oil painting

I struggled yesterday with some areas,
but like how it came out, I will share the painting's progress
when I've applied some color glazes.

  1. This has been one of the most jaw-dropping experiences this week for me, along with something ABSOLUTELY fabulous that Penny has been making....

Violet, your skills leave me praising God for the gifts issued out to us all, and for the courage it takes to keep these skills honed and to improve. Your perseverance alone in finding just the right lighting, gray and taking away of areas is THE ART itself. Now I can't wait to see the color that you are going to apply, and I know you are going to do it in just the right amount!

Thank you my friend, for always being there...your visit to my post is so special to me! Now to see your email...you've had some wild rain today? AHHH! We are getting some snow tonight!

Now it's time for bed....see you tomorrow and LOVE THIS POST! Anita

  7. You are so very talented,
Violet, and I love this! I am
    a huge DA fan....You captured
    Lady Mary just perfectly. The
choice of black and white surely
reflects the somber mood of her
    heart these days, too.

Thank you for sharing your many
    talents!
