Where Bloggers Create

Welcome to my studio!
and the 'Where Bloggers Create 2014' party
hosted by Karen Valentine from My Desert Cottage blog

I've been making some paper creations and wanted to view the inspiring  papers.
I found this industrial style wine rack at a flea market shop and it works great for paper storage.
{as well as the record stand!)

I love this Ikea cart!

You might think this photo is 'staged'.
Would I do that to you?
Why Yes, I Would!!!

Have you looked through a magazine featuring an artists studio
and marvel that they paint in nice clothes?  {me too}
Well... I might if I were just doing some finishing touches, as I am here.
But real life?  I'm messy!  An apron is vital!

The above photo was taken in a photo-shoot session for the magazine
'Scarlet Pink'
{here's the link to my blog post about the recent feature!}

Most of my studio furniture and decor
is from antique stores and flea market shops

the desk is taller than most and I needed a chair with enough height.
And, although I do clean up my work spaces between projects,
{it gives me peace of mind and heart}
Most of the time there are paintings in progress
and paper creations littering the tables.

Two rooms joined by an arched opening with velvet curtains,
the smaller room (below) holds much of the storage,
and is where all the crafting is done
as well as work on the computer

{no, the table is usually not empty!}
(thank goodness for these parties that make us clean our studios!)

a painting ready to begin

Fun things to inspire

A studio dog (or two) is a priority!

I love the morning sunlight

I painted this suitcase with chalk paint and added some Audrey images

And now for the nitty gritty,
where are all the messy supplies?

~ and lastly, something pretty and whimsical ~

Fairy wing bouquet on my mantle

  1. What an absolutely Beautiful Bright Space you have to Create in and I Love the Decor and your Gorgeous Fur Baby who seems to be having a blast Voguing for the Photo Op! *Smiles* I'm also glad to hear I'm not the only one that needed the Inspiration to clean and tidy my Creative Space to make it presentable for the Party *Blushing*... usually I'm in Chronic Disorganization but lucky for me I'd just remodeled part of the Space I could Share in time for the Party so that I could actually Participate for the first time this year instead of merely standing on the sidelines lurking! *winks* I will probably be up all Night now tho' visiting everyone's Spaces they're Sharing, so much Inspiration, so much Eye Candy... I'm overdosing on it all, but what a way to go, huh?

  2. Where do I even begin to find the right words (fresh, unused, non-cliché) to use to describe how I FEEL when I scroll down to see corners and expanses of beautiful wooden floors, arches (LOVE!) and turquoise inspiration? Yes, thank goodness for these parties that pull out other reasons to organize, clean (teeeheee), to find another purpose for an object, and so on! Violet, you are a star. The energy it takes to not only make great art but to make your home such an organized and beautiful place is a force that has to come from above and reside within. You shine, everything shines here. I think I shall join this party next year - who knows? Maybe by doing so, it will bring out yet another focus for my goals of writing and photography improvement! These opportunities to share also help us define our styles, and yours has been in the making for a long time, and the results are striking.

    What a great post! Back later my dear friend! Anita

  3. I had to come back....that wine rack is so perfect for your papers! Now see, I had nothing of the sort or the proper space to hold my papers - hence, a trip to the trash with mold! But you have everything just so, and just right!

    Dear friend, thank you for coming to visit me in the middle of so much to do..thank you for viewing my own Italy photos! And yes, next week, you will be coming to EUROPE WITH ME!!!!!!!!! HUGS!

  15. I love your light, airy spaces filled with artistic furniture, studio dogs, and great ideas for storage. Handmade paper is one of my weaknesses and yours are truly beautiful to behold stored in the repurposed wine rack. And that turquoise Ikea cart is perfect for art supplies.

  16. Oh my goodness, the handmade paper is soooooo lovely! Your whole studio is divine, light airy and so pretty. No need to excuse the cleanliness, we all create in our own ways. Love the studio doggie ;-)

  17. Beautiful space, Violet! I love how you have hidden all your supplies, but even then they are so well organized. I can see how you and your space were featured in a magazine!

  21. My faithful friend,

    First of all, you must be pleasantly exhausted from all the partying, and yet you manage to prepare for the upcoming European gala! Thank you for including my link !!!!

    It sure was fun to go inside bloggers' creative spaces with you this weekend, and now, I too must prepare my post for Friday! Thanks so much.

  22. Really enjoyed this tour, love the simplicity of the whole space!! The light in your studio space is fantastic, and I too like working in morning light and I also think having a dog in the studio is a must : )
    Your Afghan hounds are beautiful.

    What kind of paints do you use? The large easel you have is brilliant, hold large canvases really well (on my wish list)... Really lovely tour, now will check out more of your past posts to see your paintings!

    Happy summer!!!

  23. Love your studio!

    I too have that aqua IKEA cart - it seems a lot of us do.

    I got a great idea from this post on storing my paper. I am sure there is some sort of wine rack in the attic that I can use to hold my papers.

    Thanks for the inspiration.
