It's Possible

~ For a Plain Yellow Pumpkin to Become a Golden Carriage ~
{But this 30 pound one was bright orange}

Does anyone remember the songs in the old
Rodgers and Hammerstein's CINDERELLA musical?
The made-for-TV-movie with Leslie Ann Warren,
whose fairy godmother was Ginger Rogers?!???

I was singing them all
while assembling this Cinderella Carriage
for our front yard

~ I made it intending for it to stay outside
whatever the weather,
and it's out there getting rained on right now.
that's kinda bothering me... but I'm refraining from rushing out to bring it in

I spray painted a real pumpkin shiny gold.
The wheels are tiger-striped pumpkins enhanced with gold paint.
The horse was orangy-brown and cost $2.99 at a thrift store.
I spray painted him heirloom white and sprinkled on the glitter.
The photo of the woman in the carriage window I found online and don't remember where,
she now has a 'diamond' crown
and hopefully I waterproofed her enough...
The carriage crown is made from a plastic yogurt container,
painted and glittered and jeweled.
Metal window decor was in my stash.
The image of Cinderella is attached to a flattened aluminum container
cut into an oval shape.

Does knowing all this remove the mystique?

Next time I will share my tiny Cinderella carriage
displayed in a theatre on the French bakers rack in the dining room.

~ more songs I'm remembering from the musical ~

"Ten Minutes Ago I Met You"
"In My Own Little Corner in My Own Little Chair"
do you have any more to add?

Oh...it's very pretty! I adore that version of Cinderella. It is Cinderella to me! Oh...and Prince Charming...all those years he was or is on General Hospital...he is still Prince Charming to me! "In my own little corner in my own little chair, I can be whatever I want to be!"

I like to sing that song while cleaning house.

OH VIOLET! Every time this show came on TV, I had to make sure that my father allowed me space on the TV set! I remember the song, the magic, the hopes that Cinderella would be found...oh remember her dress with the ermine collar? OH you've brought back this fabulous memory for me!

YES, it is possible, with VIOLET! Golden pumpkins, ordinary horses becoming great white steeds and believing that whatever we put our hands to do, we can create beauty. LOVE YOU! Anita

How I love this project my friend, how blessed I am to always get a peek at what you are in progress of making, and most of all, how blessed I am to be connected to you through our Lord.

I just read your comment on my new post, and it is STUNNING how you wrote something I actually deleted from my original draft, but ONLY BECAUSE I needed to revise and clip away. But you had said about recognizing what is REAL and what is NOT. I had that very same sentiment because in this world that is increasingly becoming too loud with media and violence, lies and more lies, all I want is a quiet world where we can hear GOD'S voice much clearer. You caught that and it just thrilled me.

It's Friday and I'm super EXCITED! I hope to cozy up to a rainy weekend here, and to clean up the garden and let the rain speak my name.

LOVE YOU!

A magical post indeed, and no, it does not take away from the mystique...in fact, it is beautifully generous of you to share the how-to...I just brought some pumpkins into the hose and had my gold paint ready to go!! This creation is a HUGE inspiration....so beautiful!!
Thank you for bringing joy and beauty to us, dearest Violet...you and Anita! ;)))
Blessings,
