New Art

This painting was inspired by Psalm 42 and by a song
written by my friend Jeanne's husband Marty Nystrom.
-
"As the deer panteth for the water
So my soul longeth after You
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship you.
-
You alone are my strength, my shield
To you alone will my spirit yield
You alone are my heart's desire
And I long to worship You
-
You're my friend, and You are my brother
Even though You are a King
I love You more than any other
So much more than anything."
-
-Song by Marty Nystrom-
-
He is also the author of a wonderful children's book
"Don't Mess With Moses" a book of fun rhymes and poems
based on stories from the Bible. Here is Marty's book website:
Another of his books will be published next year.
Thank you Marty for sharing your gifts with the world!
More thoughts on the deer art can be found below this

This dear friend loves her horses, loves her dogs,
loves her husband, loves her friends...
and is loved in return.

As I worked on the deer image
I thought about the verses that inspired Marty
to write this beautiful song many years ago...
and many of the other Bible verses about thirsting for God.
-
There is a great thirsting in many hearts today.
Our hearts and spirits are longing for a pure refreshing water
to quench the dry parched land of our hearts.
We are seeking spirituality.
And were created in a way that needs it deeply.
-
There are a lot of water substitutes available.
But it is a type of water that you need more and more
and more and yet it never quenches the thirst.
There are those who say "we have no sin,
there is no such thing as evil or right and wrong,
everything is god including us."
-
But this is not what Jesus taught.
If it was, we wouldn't have needed Him as our Savior.
But it does sound like some things said by a crafty snake
in the Garden of Eden ~ (found in the Bible in
Genesis chapter 3 titled, "The Fall of Man".)
--
Jesus says in John 4, "Everyone who drinks this water
will be thirsty again. but whoever drinks water I give him
will never thirst, but will become in him a spring of
water welling up to eternal life."
-
Jesus answered the woman he met at the well,
"If you knew the
Gift of God
and who it is that asks you for a drink,
you would have asked him and he would have
given you living water."
-
Living Water!

Thank you so much for this beautiful art and the words to Marty's song. It brings back wonderful memories for me from a Walk to Emmaus retreat when I was on the song team. They asked me to sing this song. It was new to me. When I sang the words "You are my brother even though you are a King" I wept and wept. It surprised me how overwhelmed I became. I realized that He is closer than a brother. The whole room went into about a half an hour of full worship and it was amazing. I met Marty about two or three years later. God is good. Thanks for sharing.

You know Marty Nystrom - that is so neat. This is one of the first songs I learned to sign. We had a "sign choir" at Grace Fellowship, Tulsa in the 80s - early 90s. This was always one of my favorites.
