But let me introduce you to my car Gracie Lou.
(What, you don't name your car?)

And, yes, I do decorate my car.
Why not?
(I did not do this for the photo-shoot, those who know me
would tell you they see this VW Beetle
about town just as it appears here : )
When you don't have to haul kids around anymore
There's all that space that says "embellish me"
either that or I'm just hearing it wrong.

Maybe it's really saying "wash me"
or "take me to the beach"

I hear
"I need some flowers and a chandelier!"

I keep the back seats folded down,
it's like a van back there!

Here's the bud vase
I am sad they aren't going to make this style Beetle anymore!
I've had this purple Beetle for several years,
and yes, it came this color!
I've only seen one other, but not very often,
so I feel like I have my own personalized car.
It has a opalescent paint that changes hues
and daily someone comments about the
C O L O R
(guys as often as women)
The chandy hanging from the rear-view mirror
(a Christmas ornament I use year-round)

and on the antennae is 3 colors of curled ribbon
that dances in the breeze as I drive.
So. The reason I named my car
GRACIE LOU ?

We once had a puppy with that name.
-
There was something about Gracie
that just made everyone SMILE.
( I suppose all puppies have that quality)

And this car has that same effect
-
Now, I don't tell most people my car has a name,
and I don't call her by it very often,
so that's just between us okay?

Sometimes the hounds just feel like going for a joy ride

Ahhh..your car is awesome!! I love it :) And why not decorate a car, I think its a wonderful idea. I had nail polish that was the same colour as your car and seemed to change whichever way you looked at it, gorgeous! I can see why you're attached to it!! Have a great weekend flower!! xx

Oh...that made me laugh and laugh. She looked like she was ready to drive away and then her sunglasses fell off and she looked to see where they had gone. So funny....I'd like to see those two drive themselves to a day at the beach.
Very cute car. My Dad always named his cars...I don't know why. I drive a Hyundai Santa Fe and love it. It's the only car I've ever had that I really loved. Don't know why I haven't named her.
O.K., I am loving this, LAUGHING at the dogs because they look as if THEY KNOW WHAT THEY ARE DOING behind the wheel! Hey, I think CHILDREN and even DOGS need to have a home environment where CREATIVITY and FUN ABOUND....and even a CAR where fun is all around!!! Oh Violet, even your CAR is an extension of your amazing creativity....THIS IS MAGNIFICENT. I do not have any other friends that I know of who create every inch of their lives with the same special and marvelous details...I LOVE THE CHANDY IN YOUR CAR! What a great place to hang the ornament!!!!! Oh that video was so darling!!!!!

This is just fabulous. Why do we not all just decorate our cars? Add the personal touch? After all we spend a significant amount of time in them. Your photos are inspirational.

Oh, my gosh! I love it. What a great car. We had our minds set on getting an orange VW convertible. My husband was looking all over for one. Then he sat it one and it did not fit very well. The door handle hits his leg funny. I was so bummed. We ended up with a Camry. Kind of boring, huh? I found out they redid the interior and made it a few inches wider so I have hope for my next car! That will be extra cool then any way because all of my kids will be on their own. Your post is wonderful. I think this should be a link party. I am linking your post to my latest post.

Yes why not decorate the car. I love toile and have a black SUV of which I have french toile pillows with pink in the back seat and black and white throw for cold AC travels. My studio is toile and now the car too. LOL!

Now this is True Inspiration!!!! You really do "create beauty" all around you, don't you! Even your dogs are gorgeous beauty queens!![ Adorable video] I wish I could steal your "chandy" idea, but I doubt it would do much to enhance my old red Jeep, still used for hauling tubes to the river, grandson to the beach, and a wheelchair for my mom. Hey, maybe I could decorate her wheelchair? But what to name it? Wanda? Winifred?Weezy?
