A Purple Thursday in June

Do you think I should have a purple car like this one?

Well, I actually do have a purply ('violety') car but it is a

more recent model than this one we saw at a

Father's Day car show.

I haven't done a Purple Thursday post in a while have I?

Well, how about my doggies wearing my new hat

I found at an art festival last weekend?

The only way I can get Dazzle to pose with it is if she is

half-asleep. Otherwise she wants to eat it.

You can see that Drifter has given up

any resistance to posing,

enduring my whims.

These are two of my favorite hats,

and were made by Linda Mestrovich, who I met at an art festival and who is a new friend! She is such a talented knitter/felter and her hats make me happy! Aren't they fun?!?

And P U R P L E !!!!

Even the Afghan Hound feels stylish in one!

Also for this Purple Thursday,
a Valentine made by my friend Lynette at our Valentine Craft Party! The photo doesn't do the glitter justice... we made these hearts by gluing pretty napkins onto heavy paper. And added jewels of course. I will post about the party soon!

My friend Jeanne has a purple leather couch!!!
How cool is that? And those pillows... and candle...

And she painted her dining room purple too!

Purple Thursday!

Happy Purple Thursday! My own invented holiday that comes each week. Besides painting, I do photo-shoots of dogs for various projects. What does a Greyhound and two Maltese have in common? Purple of course! And glamour and glitz and looking adorable. I have the Greyhound image available as a notecard, along with a variety of other doggy photo notecards, including Maltese, on my website, http://www.violetskiles.com/ ... these dogs are making you smile aren't they?!

I am working on an oil painting this week of a beautiful breed, that a client is giving as a Christmas gift. I won't say more in case the dog owner finds my blog!

Purple Thursday!

Today's 'Purple Thursday" item is this beaded and sequined applique that was embellishing a purple t-shirt I found a while back at a consignment shop. The shirt was too small but the only reason I bought it was for this glitzy bit. It was worth the tiny amount they wanted for it. I just know it will be perfect for something! It has a little problem now that I'm hoping to repair. My Dazzle-dog stole it from my desk this morning after it was photographed, and proceeded to chew on a corner of it before I caught her. She is such a beautiful dog but her favorite hobby is destroying my stuff. She's into "altered art"...

It's Purple Thursday!

What a beautiful old truck they had sitting in all it's glory out at the Pumpkin Farm! And what a lovely shade of Purple : ) - I like how they decorated it with orange pumpkins sitting all over it! What a blessing it is to be able to see in living color !

Autumn is painted in so many colorful shades of beauty. I enjoy the intensity of color that then softly fades to the muted hues of winter. And then we can decorate our homes in the colorful brightness of Christmas!

This lovely lady who is sitting in my 'violet' tea cup wants to wish you a light-filled day annointed with purple glitter! Isn't she delightful? My friend Connie sent her to me ... said she found this tiny fairy at a shop while on vacation and thought of me. Hmmmm ... I wonder why?

I almost forgot Purple Thursday!

I had so much fun making this pin out of felted sweater scraps, ribbon and beads.

This is a rosy-purplish sweater with purple and green yarns running thru it. I've been wearing it a lot the past 3 days!

I found it at a thrift store for $6, it appears to be hand made and is in perfectly new condition. Isn't it cute?

It's our anniversary today and we went out to eat at the Cheesecake Factory. Yum! I wore this sweater and pin. (Again.)

This is on a 5x7 canvas and after this I added a ribbon hanger, then embellished with jewels, glitter, and a row of beads hanging from the bottom. Tres Chic Doggies! : )

Purple Thursday!

I happened upon this beautiful porcelain doll today at a thrift store.

She cost $6.99, what an amazing deal! She is 26 inches tall,

and her clothes are shades of lavender and plum.

I haven't done any research yet, so I don't know anything about her

except for what the tag says ... a "Traditions Doll".

I don't even collect dolls, but couldn't resist her.

I gave her a deep purple flower for a hat.

What if I start a Purple Thursday post each week? I wonder how long it would take before I ran out of purple (as in violet) things to photograph? (Not likely too soon.... LOL!) Now, don't think all I do is wear purple and have a purple house. (Now my car, there's another subect...!) No purple themed rooms here, really! but I do love so many shades of my name. (Good thing they didn't name me Puce. Or Mustard. Because that's so not me...) It seems I do gravitate towards plum, grape, lavender, aka: v i o l e t ..... Oh how I did not like my name when I was a child! No one else had that name, - unless they were over 80 - and I was so shy. But now as an adult, I really enjoy it. I was named after my grandmother. And what a beautiful surprise I received on the day of my granddaughters birth this year to be told it was her middle name : )

So, welcome to Purple Thursday. If I remember each week that is! Today I will share three photos -- my cell phone... which one of my dogs who likes electronics crunched on, my new carry-around Canon camera I just got because my other one died (that's okay, it was just silver), and at the top you will see a cute t-shirt I found today for $7 at a consigment shop, where I treated myself after working at cleaning out the garage all afternoon and taking a load to a thrift store. Only those who love scavengering in thrift and consignment shops and collecting treasures can understand how one could get rid of stuff and go buy something on the way home! But look, it has a purple bird on it, who could resist?!? Yes, I had to take a photo of it next to my bird vignette! Happy Purple Thursday! (Even though as I post this it's actually Wednesday night... but I'm working out at the gym in the morning and will be back in the garage in the afternoon, if I can make myself do it on such a warm sunny day ....
