True Love

Today is our anniversary
my dear one and I
have been celebrating
~ for a week ~
while on vacation
at the beach
-
It was the best weather they'd had all summer
on the Oregon Coast
and we were there to enjoy it
and bask in the sunshine
.... the last hurrah perhaps of summer ...
which was so needed
in our hearts
and
souls.
-
There is a totally different atmosphere
in the misty mornings
when the sun breaks through
~ the scents and sensations ~
of the beach
is healing to the soul and mind and heart.
-
I have been absent here for a while
the busy-ness of creating
for some shows I participated in
right up to the evening before we left on our vacation,
and my studio is an explosion of all of it
~ I had hoped the cleaning fairies would have come ~
-
But alas, they did not, so today,
our anniversary
shall be spent cleaning and organizing
but I think we celebrated already quite nicely!
Just wanted to say I am back in case anyone was wondering.
Have a wonderful weekend!

A Fairy of Pods and Petals

Have you ever noticed how some leaves and seed pods
look like tiny wings? I picked up a seed pod
while on a walk and brought it home.
Picturing them as perfect little fairy wings,
I took some pansey petals from a flower pot on my front porch
and layed them over the 'wings' for a photograph.
-
I have been using vintage images recently
for some mixed media projects.
Altering and embellishing them... and sprinkling with glitter.
I combined this vintage image below with my petals and pods photo.
-
I love the basket of violets
she is holding, but had to cover them up with the petal.
-
The crown on my fairy is a photo of a floral crown
I made a few days ago, it is a life-size crown,
so of course the image had to be made quite small
for The Pansey Fairy to wear.
-
All she needs now is to be added to some of my mixed media
art pieces and glittered.
-
Below is the photo that inspired the fairy of pods and petals.
Now I am seeing flowers and leaves everywhere
as tiny gowns and wings.
-
What amazing colors and shapes the Designer of Creation
has created for our delight!
What intricate beauty there is to behold.
-
I wonder if fashion designers also find some inspiration
for gowns in the lovely flowers of summertime?

Telephone

A Friend is Just a Phone Call Away!
-
This lovely lady waiting for a call
to go out for lunch, or a shopping spree?
... still has no name ...
But I thank all of you for your ideas!
Still trying to decide.
Who does she look like today?
-
I have two new phones.
The above, I found at a thrift store this week.
Never used before! If only I could use it.
We have our phone service through an internet provider
and this one only plugs into a phone jack.
But isn't it
B E A U T I F U L !?!
-
Asthetics
versus
Functionality
-
The one above does not fit in my purse quite as well
-
My other new phone
-
Also white ...
And so far, no Afghan Hound teeth marks
no falling into water like my last one.
(Oh, and no purple tape holding the battery in!)
-
Beauty and the Beast.
-
(but I can take photos and text with the Beast)
Okay, it's not really a beast. I really like it
But it's not that great for posing for photos.
-
~ Both go with my Blue Danube china ~
-

No ... just not the same effect though is it?

-
And no matter how I design a photo-shoot
Well, this is just w r o n g!
-
But it makes me giggle
-
-
I doubt, years from now
They will use 'vintage' cell phones in romantic photos
-
But this phone will always be in
S T Y L E
-
... or just text ...
-
Gotta go make some calls now,
Violet

Little Art Gifts

These are some little art pieces
I made recently as gifts
-
The shepherdess ones were created with
vintage images, the sparrow card from one of
my photos combined into a digital collage,
adding glitter, stamping, and ribbon.
-
... Little wall hangings or bookmarks ...
Fun to tuck into an envelope
~or sneak into a friends purse~
or even left as an anonymous surprise
for a stranger as I'm out and about.
Joyful art surprises
and reminders of God's love

Purple Thursday!

Antique Store Browsing ... love these!

The above house is a lavendery-blue. Isn't it pretty?!?
(No, it is not mine.)
-
The house below is purple on top! Not mine either.
(Why would you even think I would have a purple house?!?
My hubby would never go for it.)

I regret not buying this. It is calling me back....
and says to bring money. It wants to come home with me.
I can hear you calling oh pretty vintage vase!!!
-
sigh.
