Handmade Gifts

This year I made many of the birthday and Christmas gifts I gave to friends.
This scarf was a December birthday gift for Sue. We met in junior high and have been forever friends since. How thankful I am for friends old and new!
-
I purchased a small amount of creamy sweater knit fabric and the ecru lace from a fabric store and the crocheted lace is from a vintage doily found at a thrift store. I love to search out the linens and lace someone lovingly made years ago.
-
I made the flower pin from felted wool made from thrift store sweaters. Doesn't 'felted' sound so much nicer than 'shrunken'? : )
I added the center of a small doily and a button,
and velvet ribbon to add some flair.

For anyone who is wondering where the organized closet photos and post went, well, I did say I was regretting posting those. Yikes! Baring my closet to the world? Had second thoughts : )
And have you noticed how something looks so nice to you personally and then you look at photos and realize they lost something in translation? After seeing the photos of our master bedroom all I could think of was, 'it looks clean but boring'. Needs more decor or a new paint color and definately some window coverings. I think taking photos of our home decor is a great way to see what it really looks like and helps with decorating ideas! I now have the 'before' pictures, but you all will have to wait to see the 'after' because I still don't know what to do in there. We've just lived here a year and a half and each room takes time, for me anyway!

Hi Violet,

Love your blog--we have a lot in common, although antiques are my biggest passion, THEN chocolate! ;-)
I know how you feel about photos; the pics I took of my new space at Faded Elegance looked terrible, so I "cropped" them for the blog. Hope you'll visit F.E. again soon! Best wishes!

Gorgeous scarf!

I know just what you mean. Photographs are a great way to help determine what more can be done to improve a room! I use that trick myself sometimes.

Happy night & blessings,
Melissa

How wonderful. I'm in the process of knitting some pieces so I can felt them up for a project. Recycling at it's best, so beautiful.

Violet,
We must be long lost sisters! I love antiquing, thrift store shopping, hats and chocolate. Are you sure you're not from Dixie?

Looking forward to reading more of your blog. Thanks for stopping by!

LOVE the scarf. I think it's awesome everytime vintage linens are reused and made into something new. And this is truly gorgeous!

PS: I can SO relate with you in regards to my bedroom.
