Vintage Cabinet Embellishment

This is a wall in my studio
where the 'new' cabinet resides
-

I started this project 2 years ago.
Removed the old varnish, sanded it, painted it white.
But it needed something more, new knobs,
some bling, and shorter legs!
-
I painted some swirls using a stencil,
and glued on some jewels and added glitter to the edges
of the drawers (it doesn't show up very well in the photos)
-
The inside of the drawers were dark,
and I didn't want to paint them, so decoupaged them
with sheet music (thank you Beethoven!)
-
Ta ~ Da!!!

-
... So pretty now! Below is the 'before' photo ...

-

It was a funky looking cabinet,
and those legs were just too spindly for the size.
-
~ This project only took me 2 years ~
-Sometimes an idea takes some time to develop!
(or perhaps in my case, time to get motivated!)
-
My son did all of the sanding, which I totally appreciate!

I want to say first, that your Afghans are so pretty, my mother-in-law has Standard Poodles and she and my father-in-law went to a dog show recently in Orange county... Do you show your beautiful pets ever? I wonder?

Your creativity and artistic ability really shine through on your project, excellent!

That is totally beautiful. I love the glass knobs and all the detail. I adore the dress forms all dolled up. So cute! And sheet music on the inside, love that!

Oh Violet dearest, this is unbelieveably beautiful. Here I am sending you my silly photos of my $15 dollor mannequin and the photos that you have displayed here are so stunning! The cabinet is perfect. Even I, the glitter lover of blogland, would have never thought of glittering the edges of the drawers! BRILLIANT MY FRIEND! Anita

Hello again dear,

I was just going to ask if I had the permission to use one of your images on my side bar with a link to your wonderful blog. I am creating an "artists' gallery" on the sidebar to wonderful artists like you! Gotta share the beauty that I love so! Anita

Good morning sweet Violet,

Thank you for your friendship, beauty, encouragement and...permission to use one of your fabulous images for my sidebar for a link to your magical world. I hope your special birthday celebration never ends; my husband is taking me out AGAIN tonight for dinner! I had a rather awful day at school yesterday, and we are going to celebrate the weekend and HAPPY things! Your world certainly makes me very joyous!

Bisous my friend! Anita

A beautiful transformation! I don't think I would have give the original a second look.
