Beautiful in the Details

Enjoy these inspiring quotes by Michelangelo
as you browse these lovely armoires I photographed at an
antique mall this week.  Oh the beauty!!!
-
" A beautiful thing
never gives so much pain as does failing to hear and see it. "
-
(Oh, I see it!!!  see it and want it..... sigh....)

"I saw the angel in the marble and carved
until I set him free"
-
(Although these are wood and not marble,
the artist saw more than wood... but saw with the heart
that which could be formed from plain wood)

"The true work of art is but a
shadow of the Divine Perfection"
-
Our lives are God's work of art ... he sees the beauty beyond our own vision

"The greatest danger for most of us lies not in setting our aim too high
and falling short; but in setting our aim too low,
and achieving our mark."
-
(Whoever made this armoire set their mark high!)

"Many believe ~ and I believe ~ that I have been
designated for this work by God.
In spite of my old age, I do not want to give it up;
I work out of love for God
and I put all my hope in Him."

That which we allow God to carve and design in our lives
creates a beauty that is eternal.

May we reflect love
-
and allow the divine Artist to carve from our lives
that which is beautiful in the details.

I would have come sooner, but sleep was calling me after I churned out a post that unfortunately, ranks as an achieved mark, not a HIGHER mark...but when sleep is calling, there is nothing you can do! O.K., NOW....

This was marvelous. Dearest friend with whom I "speak" to on a daily basis, I feel as if I know everything about this day, these items and the love behind this post. I so want to have been by your side, oohing and awing over each beautifully carved piece. I love how you wove in all of the quotes from an individual who carved in GOD's purpose into every nook and cranny of his art. This is superb, and the armoires? Unbelievably wondrous. I have an armoire, not an antique, that i am trying to sell in order to make room in our dining room. I am thinking twice about it now; Oh I wish I could show it to you. It is lovely, but no carving. I am tempted to paint it white!!!!!!! This is just a perfect post...I will be back later after I get some chores done...Love you, Anita

I have just taken a stroll through the hallways, passages and corridors of this beautiful world you have created...ahhhh...so very lovely.
Your header is magnificent!!!!
...and as for armoires, I have a fetish for anything with a curl or a curve...your snappies are perfectly wonderful.
Well, what a pleasure this has been. I will surely be back for another visit very soon...Rosie

Oh dearest, I wish I could just go to your house! I LOVE THIS POST....one of my favorites posts of yours was with that DOLL and with Dazzle...but this post, every photo and the words are superb, especially the one with YOU IN IT! THank you for visiting today...I am here, at home, SAFE because the roads are slick and covered with new snow. This was not one of my best days at school as a teacher or a colleague...more on that later! Anita
