Altered (and then) Embellished Shoes

-

She may look quite innocent

-
-
But this girl has a thing for shoes

-
-
They do make great chew toys
-
And are oh so tasty!
This girl is not outgrowing her 'taste' for shoes
-
And she is into ALTERED ART
and her medium is shoes
(hats and furs also)
-
-
And even though these shoes
came from a thrift store and were on sale for 99 cents, well, they fit just right
-
and are such a lovely color
-
When not being worn by me they were studio decor,
matching the vintage tutu worn by my dress form "Audrey"
-
Therefore, easy access to a sneaky dog to tip-toe in
and steal ~ then quietly backing out of the room
to a comfy rug to do some chewing
-
The back of one shoe was destroyed in seconds.
(  I didn't think to take a photo of the chewed part, but if you have dogs, you can picture it  )
-
-
But now the shoes are lovlier than ever
thanks to my stash of lace, velvet leaves and jewels.
-
Ta Da!
-
( Now kept on a higher shelf  :  )
-

-
-
Do your dogs also enjoy creating altered 'art'?

YOU ARE A TALENTED WRITER WOMAN! Oh dearest, this is a fine post, a humorous and BEAUTIFUL POST! I have a photo I need to send you to use or put up on your sidebar if you wish. Ruben and I are in the garden today and I am on "BREAK"...please remind me to send you this SHOE photo..you will like it. YOUR DOGS ARE SO DARN GORGEOUS! And those shoes..in between the laughs, I had to study the glamour. Dearest friend, you are so talented. AND DIDN'T YOU JUST LOVE THAT BLUE JACKET ON MY POST? You would love stunning in that. I have a navy blue one that I cannot let go of; I have worn it for years and I will keep wearing it until it is rotten!

Gotta go, back later...Anita

YES!!!! Elle chewed the end off of a pair of vintage boots... & she got sooooooo sick she threw up. I would have felt sorry for her if I hadn't been sooooooooooo mad at her. Luckily the boots had already been altered with tea stained lace on the part that she chewed so... I think I'll just add some more lace & call it altered due! HUGS!

Well this was a crazy good solution. The shoes are so pretty...I bet you were so mad when you saw them chewed on. But....then she is so pretty, you can't stay mad for long. How old is she? My Violet was not a chewer even as a puppy then at age 2...she decided to eat a pair of shoes. The only time she chewed up anything. I don't know what got into her that day. I keep my shoes up and away from them. But sometimes accidents happen. When accidents happen like that...I blame myself....dogs will be dogs.

I loved seeing this beautiful photo of your dog. She is amazing.

hello! just found your lovely blog- the image of the afghan caught my eye- since afghans have been part of my (our) life for 30 years! enjoy your humour about the shoes,..our younger afghan of 14 months, broke a precious antique table and venetian vase today- in his haste to chase a squirrel he spotted outside...one minute they lie stretched out fast asleep, the next you just feel the wind come past...you know!!greetings Colette ~Afrique du Sud

"Therefore, easy access to a sneaky dog to tip-toe in

My Blu has quietly slid up alongside me while I'm fixing sandwiches & snatched a slice of bread before I even realize he's there. Loved the post, the shoes, the story & of course, always seeing your beautiful dogs. ~MG

Fabulous!! I DO know all about doggy altered art, but I have never been able to take one of my dogs "creations" and turn it into anything as lovely. Great job!!!

oh no!!!!!!!!!

well, the old saying goes that sometimes it was just meant to be. afterall, if it weren't for the chewing...then you would not have the original shoe art.

my dogs don't chew on shoes...just stuff like rugs...oh, when fiona was a pup. but, they are pretty good puppers.

Absolutely stunning shoes. I bet your doggie loves "wearing" them. You do have a way with mason jars and simple flowers.
