Ceiling Medallions Made from Frames

-
I made these ceiling medallions for a couple of chandeliers.
The oval frames were found in an antique shop for $10.
Spray paint in 'heirloom white' transformed one of the gold carved frames
and it is now attached to the ceiling in the guest room
for this 'bird and branch' chandelier I've had for a few years.
Today I re-attached the crystals that didn't make it into the photo.

-
Below is the one that graces the powder room ceiling.
I brushed on a less shiny gold paint onto the frame to make it look more like brass,
and after my husband attached it I painted gold onto the ceiling.
Those bulbs are quite hot ~ I discovered with my arm
{ouch}

-
Although we did this before the lights were hung,
I think this project could work with chandeliers that are already in place,
by cutting the frame in half and attaching it in two pieces.
(or maybe just one cut edge would allow it to open enough)
-
We bought actual medallions for the kitchen and dining room chandeliers,
and I love the way they tie in with the lights.
-
I've never had ceiling medallions before
and I am now quite enamored with them.

Violet, you know how this post means so much to me! Watching your progress, almost feeling as if I have been beside you is such a thrill. Your ideas are so fabulous, and what I love about you (among other things) is your willingness to think beyond. What a great idea and rather than just go and either get a less than optimum medallion or pay oodles of money for a really good one, you went BEYOND and crafted your own. This is brilliance my dear!

The days are ticking away and I am so ecstatic for YOU!!!!!!! SHINE ON MY FRIEND! Anita
